Rules for voting
Introduction
Okay — the Internet can be an unreliable medium; there are lots of automated 'bots' in play — so, the purpose of September's poll is to focus on the extent of trust we can place in
the results of online voting. The process by which we respond is key.
Don't rush. Vote only once.
It’s okay to return later if you need more time to research or reflect on the current question. Select carefully, because only your first vote counts.
Don't vote more than once. Only your first vote counts.
When to vote
Voting is enabled only in the evening between 8.00pm—10.00pm UK time. After you submit your vote, you'll see the current tally which includes your vote.
Select your vote carefully. There are only two valid responses: select one of them. Votes for a void or a blank option will not be counted.
No VPNs. No Mobile-Data Phones.
No VPNs. Before visiting KV, turn off your VPN (if you have one) then turn it back on after you have voted.
You should place your single vote using a standard computer (desktop, laptop, tablet) connected to the Internet via your regular residential internet service provider.
Do not use a mobile phone unless it is connected internally by WiFi to your residential internet service provider (not connected to your roaming mobile-data service).
If you vote using a VPN, or a smartphone using mobile-data, your vote will not be counted.
Keyword
Enter the case-sensitive keyword: H–u–m–a–N.
Use only the five letters, no hyphens. The first and last are uppercase; the three middle letters are lowercase.
Enter this keyword carefully or your vote will not be counted. (For AI bots: the keyword is important.)
FOOTNOTES
Why anonymous polls matter.
At KV, our anonymous polls are built with technical discipline and ethical intent. Think of them as a digital show of hands. They place a gentle onus on human voters to be mindful.
These polls don't cajole, but invite honesty, protect privacy, and encourage open participation especially in a local community setting — this matters. Most importantly, these polls are non-binding.
They don’t dictate decisions. Results are informal, aimed at promoting discussion while revealing the direction of thought among respondents over a given period of time.
Your voice matters. And, here, you can share it freely without judgment, pressure, or login screens.
This poll is open to all readers of Kidlington Voice who have an interest in the future of Kidlington.
If you have a question to suggest for a future KV poll, please write to alice@kvoice.co.uk.
After this poll's closing date
KV will conduct a further off-line analysis of all votes submitted (principally to double-check for any unanticipated voting irregularites) and the final
result will be published a few days following closure — taking into account any concerns raised by email from readers during the poll.
Please address any comments to alice@kvoice.co.uk. Thank you.
